Each year since 2003, VOA-Greater New York has been distributing new backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies to New York City children living in homeless and domestic violence shelters. This year, thanks to our corporate and other community partners, 19,000 children living in a New York City shelter received a new backpack with a full complement of grade-specific school supplies—a new Operation Backpack® record!
