VOA-GNY Welcomes Paul H. Torres as New EVP and COO
New York, January 26, 2016 – Volunteers of America-Greater New York, Inc., one of New York City's largest private providers of services to at-risk families and individuals, and the City's largest provider of supportive housing for veterans, announced the appointment of Paul H. Torres as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. He succeeds Tere Pettitt, who was appointed the organization's President and CEO in August 2014.
Torres will oversee more than 90 programs serving numerous vulnerable populations including homeless individuals and families, homeless/at-risk veterans, families coping with domestic violence, children with developmental delays, adults with intellectual disabilities and adults living with behavioral health, HIV/AIDS and substance use issues.
Torres spent more than two decades with the Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA), one of the largest nonprofit, nonsectarian foster care and adoption agencies and mental health service providers in the NYC metropolitan area. At JCCA, he successfully implemented residential and community-based programs using evidence-based models and led multi-disciplinary teams that achieved continuous improvement of client outcomes, while reducing staff turnover.

Torres has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hamilton College where he completed an undergraduate study abroad program with the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Masters of Social Work from Columbia University, where he earned additional certification in Not-for-Profit Management. He is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is trained in various evidence-based therapies. Torres is a member of numerous workgroups and task forces on Medicaid Managed Care.
