A $10,000 grant will fund trauma-informed care training for employees at our New Jersey residential programs for adults with behavioral health issues.

(March 21, 2022 – NEW JERSEY) – VOA-Greater New York received a $10,000 grant from Investors Foundation to help further its work providing housing, health and wealth-building services to individuals experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

The grant will specifically fund trauma-informed care training for 50-60 staff at VOA-Greater New York’s behavioral health programs in Northern New Jersey, enabling them to respond more effectively to the increasein clients with trauma stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

All clients at these programs are living with mental health challenges, which have either caused or put them at risk of homelessness at some point in their life.

“This funding from Investors Foundation comes at a critical time,” says Myung Lee, President & CEO of VOA-Greater New York. “The pandemic has magnified and intensified the mental health needs of many of our clients, including the individuals at Maud House and our other Northern New Jersey behavioral health programs.”

A trauma-informed approach to care includes recognizing the impact of trauma and responding by integrating this knowledge into services, making every effort not to re-traumatize clients.
