Arman Roy Foundation's Second Annual Golf Event Raises $28K for VOA-Greater New York

On June 20, 2022, the Arman Roy Foundation held its second annual HOPE IN ONE Golf Classic, raising more than $28,000 to help fund the creation of computer labs at two of our programs for families, including our transitional shelter on the Upper West Side and one of our shelters for individuals and children escaping domestic violence.

The event was held Trenton, NJ.

Over the last two years, the Arman Roy Foundation has been unwavering in its support of VOA-Greater New York’s mission and the people we serve.

When the COVID-19 pandemic showed us the stark realities of the digital divide, the Arman Roy Foundation stepped up to help VOA-Greater New York solve the challenge of providing technology and internet connectivity to students at our shelters so they could participate in remote learning by pledging $15,000 to establish the New Hope Domestic Violence Shelter Learning Pod. In 2021, they donated over $27,000 to fund the creation of a computer lab at our Bushwick Family Residence.

One VOA-Greater New York staff member explains that the computer labs have benefited not just the children, but also the parents.

"This year, two of our mothers in the program utilized the learning pod to prep for their GED and entrance exam for a medical assistant program," she explains. "The learning pod provided them with a quiet and comfortable environment with no distractions. Due to their dedication and the availability of the learning pod, the mothers were able to study, take practice exams, and pass exams.”

The Arman Roy Foundation’s generosity and dedication truly knows no bounds. All that they have done to support our children—whether through technology, meals or scholarships—is impacting their lives in positive ways that will equip them with the knowledge, confidence and support that they need to break the cycle of poverty.
