$1M Raised In Three Years of The Honickman Companies’ Invitational Golf Event

NEW YORK—Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-GNY) today announced The Honickman Companies has raised over $1 million for VOA-GNY through the Honickman Companies invitational golf outing, which has been held since 2020.

The Honickman Companies, a leading beverage manufacturer and distributor, raised $482,750 at the third annual invitational golf outing this year for VOA-GNY, an anti-poverty organization with a rich 126-year history of serving New Yorkers in need.

This year’s event was held at Knollwood Country Club in Westchester on Monday, September 12. About $350,000 was raised for VOA-GNY in 2021.

“The event is a tremendous success each year and is a testament to the power of coming together as a community to support our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Myung J. Lee, President and CEO of Volunteers of America-Greater New York. “We extend a sincere thank you to our partners at The Honickman Companies for their unwavering support as we strive to end homelessness in Greater New York by 2050.”

The Honickman Companies are a group of 5 independent soft drink companies that started in 1957. Collectively the companies have close to 3,000 employees and 17 facilities stretching from New York to North Carolina. The companies partner with organizations like the VOA-GNY to make a meaningful impact in the communities its employees and customers call home.

The Honickman Companies is also a proud partner of VOA-GNY’s Operation Backpack® initiative, which connects children in need with a new backpack filled with grade-specific school supplies. In 2021, VOA-GNY donated school supplies to all 15,000 children living in New York City shelters.

Reginald Goins was recognized by VOA-GNY at its 2021 gala and was given the Spirit of New York Award.
