Rutgers Presbyterian Church Collects Books for VOA Veterans Residences
Hundreds of books fill the libraries of VOA's residences for formerly homeless veterans, thanks to a book drive organized by Rutgers Presbyterian Church. The book drive, held in early 2015, accepted books from the public in a donation box located at Rutgers Presbyterian Church on West 73rd Street.
"As someone who grew up loving my time at the library, where the world was opened up to me and my imagination, this is all about sharing good reads, recycling materials, and building connections with other people," said Lesley Countryman, Rutgers Communty Programs Outreach Advisor.
The book drive is one of many ways in which Rutgers Presbyterian Church has supported the work of Volunteers of America-Greater New York.
Past initiatives sponsored and organized by Rutgers Presbyterian Church have included field trips and art classes for students of Volunteers of America's Bronx Early Learning Center, a preschool program for children with developmental delays.
