PIX 11 and News12 Bronx Cover Operation Backpack® Back-to-School Giveaways

In the lead-up to the first day of school, VOA-GNY hosted Operation Backpack® school supply distribution parties at two of our family shelters in Brooklyn. Each student got to show off their personal style and choose from a wide variety of backpacks to fill with school supplies. The events also featured pizza, music, dancing, and special visits and support from elected officials Council Member-elect Chris Banks, Council Member Sandy Nurse, and Senator Roxanne Persaud.
