Residential Supervised Housing
Theodora House and Myrtle House
Theodora House provides support for both men and women who have been diagnosed with behavioral health issues. Myrtle House is a residence for men with co-occurring diagnoses (behavioral health and substance abuse). Each program works with the individual, other service providers (i.e. day treatment staff, peer providers), and natural supports to help the client live as independently as possible. Staff members are on-site 24/7 to provide support as well as assist in navigating wellness goals.
Residential Healthcare
Bay City
Residents at Bay City are directly referred from New Jersey State Psychiatric Hospitals. These individuals often have co-occurring behavioral health issues and physical health diagnoses. The nursing staff (LPNs and RNs) prioritize preventative care and are always available on-site, facilitating the appropriate medical and behavioral health care and wellness management for residents.
Most clients have a history of homelessness, substance abuse, physical health diagnoses and psychiatric hospitalizations. Their family ties are often limited or non-existent due to significant lengths of stay in a state hospital. As a result, Bay City becomes a true community for residents. We have success engaging even the most challenging individuals, and often see a decrease in social isolation because of the positive attention and sense of family the residence fosters.
Residences for Co-Occurring Diagnoses (Behavioral Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities)
Alletta House
Alletta House provides community-based residential support services for men with co-occurring diagnoses (behavioral health issues and intellectual and developmental disabilities). The goal of the program is for residents to live successfully in the community. To achieve this, Alletta House provides 24-hour support and supervision alongside a person-centered approach, emphasizing the individual’s choice through skills development and referrals to community resources.
Staff members create a safe and stable living environment while helping residents develop self-reliance, confidence, and a sense of personal dignity. Residents are encouraged to foster new relationships and increase interactions with members of the outside community. Referrals for placement at Alletta House are submitted through the Division of Developmental Disabilities, community organizations, as well as concerned friends and family members.
Services at Alletta House include:
- Learning practical life skills such as effective problem solving, maintaining a home, managing finances, establishing community relations, navigating public transportation, and skill-building in various life roles such as social, employment, educational and/or housing.
- Accessing mental, medical and dental health care. Staff members work as advocates for residents, helping them negotiate their entitlement claims, such as Medicaid and Social Security, and ensure they receive all the appropriate medical services they require.
- Engaging in a wide variety of social recreational activities, including day trips to museums and sporting events, games, and cookouts.
- Accessing other community resources of their choice.
